Most Bigg Boss contestants arrive hoping to win one big reality show. Kushal Tanwar had already won two before he even entered the house. Fresh off back-to-back wins on Roadies and Splitsvilla, Gullu walked into Bigg Boss 20 chasing what he calls his own reality TV hat-trick.

Who Is Kushal Tanwar?
Kushal Tanwar studied hotel management before reality TV took over his life. As a kid in his village, people called him Gullu. Then he gained weight, and the name shifted to Golu. Three years ago, he lost 30 kilograms and got the nickname, and the look, back.
How Old Is Gullu?
Gullu, whose real name is Kushal Tanwar, is reported to be 26 to 27 years old, born around 1999.
From Roadies to Splitsvilla: Building a Reality TV Career
His run started with MTV Roadies XX: Double Cross. It was not a straight climb. He was eliminated early while representing Elvish Yadav’s gang, came back as a wildcard under Gautam Gulati, and won anyway.
Next came MTV Splitsvilla X6: Pyaar Ya Paisa, hosted by Sunny Leone and Karan Kundrra. There he built a strong on-show connection with fellow contestant Kaira Anu. On May 16, 2026, the two of them won the season together and took home Rs 20 lakh. A third title followed on Maa Hai Naa, hosted by Shilpa Shetty Kundra, this time alongside his mother, Munesh Tanwar.
Gullu's Three Reality Show Wins
Gullu, whose real name is Kushal Tanwar, won MTV Roadies XX: Double Cross in 2025, taking home ₹10 lakh and a Hero Karizma bike, according to India TV. In May 2026 he and partner Kaira Anu won MTV Splitsvilla 16, also called Splitsvilla X6, ahead of three other finalist couples, with a ₹20 lakh prize. He also won Maa Hai Naa Season 1 with his mother, Munesh Tanwar, completing what he called a hat-trick of wins.
Filmibeat reports that before reality television he built a background in hospitality and fitness.
Is Gullu Married?
Belloria has found no verified report that Gullu is married. During Bigg Boss 20, an old photo circulated online as his “wedding photo”, with claims that he had divorced, and Gullu said the picture was fake or fabricated, according to BollywoodShaadis. He was reportedly in a relationship with Splitsvilla co-winner Kaira Anu, whom BollywoodShaadis now describes as his ex-girlfriend.
Bigg Boss 20: Chasing a Reality TV Hat-Trick
Bigg Boss 20 premiered on September 6, 2026, on Colors TV and JioHotstar, hosted by Salman Khan. Gullu walked in carrying two titles already. He reached the final three of the season’s first captaincy task, alongside Yung DSA and Aasif Khan.
Talking to IANS after entering the house, Gullu said the nerves he used to feel on new shows are gone now. He called Bigg Boss a chance to show his life without a filter. On his future plans, he said he wants to build his own brand rather than stay tagged as “the reality show guy,” and he will try acting only when he feels genuinely ready, not before.
Personal Life
Fans have kept a close eye on his connection with Kaira Anu since Splitsvilla. Unfollow-refollow activity on Instagram set off breakup rumours earlier in 2026, though neither has confirmed a relationship off-screen. Kushal Tanwar is publicly reported as unmarried.
