Nur Amira Syahira learned to play the drums by watching YouTube. She had no teacher, and nobody in her family worked in music. Her father bought her a second-hand drum set for RM1,000 once he saw how seriously she took it, and the girl from Bukit Mertajam in Penang started uploading covers as a child. Today more than three million people subscribe to her channel.

That alone would make her one of Malaysia’s best-known YouTube musicians. What makes the story worth telling now is the second act. She turned drum covers into something distinctly Malaysian by playing in kebaya and singing P. Ramlee and Saloma classics. Since late 2025 she has gone further, writing and releasing her own Spanish-language pop through her own production company, the latest dated single being Yo No Eh Eh Eh on 12 June 2026.

This profile covers her early years, her biggest videos, her acting debut, the move into Spanish pop and what is confirmed about her life off camera. Where sources disagree, it says so.

Who Is Nur Amira Syahira?

Nur Amira Syahira, widely known as Amira Drummer, is a Malaysian drummer, singer, songwriter, actress and content creator from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, now based in Kuala Lumpur. Her YouTube channel, @amiradrummer, has about 3 million subscribers, built on drum covers she began posting as a child. She made her acting debut in the TV3 drama Diva Seroja in 2023 and releases original songs through her own company, Nur Amira Syahira Productions.

How Old Is Nur Amira Syahira?

Nur Amira Syahira is 23 years old as of 21 October 2026. Malay-language Wikipedia and Famous Birthdays list her date of birth as 25 April 2003, so she turns 24 on 25 April 2027. Belloria did not find her stating the date herself. Press ages from mStar and Harian Metro between 2020 and 2023 fit it, but Bernama (February 2022) and Kosmo (March 2023) gave ages a year higher, so treat the date as widely listed rather than officially confirmed.

Where Is Nur Amira Syahira From? Early Life and Family

Nur Amira Syahira was born in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, according to Bernama and Kosmo, and she is the eldest of three siblings. Her LinkedIn profile lists High School Bukit Mertajam as her school.

Music did not run in the family. She told Kosmo in 2023 that nobody on either side was in the arts. What she had was a father who took her, as a primary school child, to a friend’s music studio. She started on a drum video game on the computer, and when her father saw how committed she was he bought a used drum set for RM1,000.

Her parents stayed involved. In a 2020 mStar interview she credited strong encouragement from them and pointed out that a full drum set can cost well over ten thousand ringgit. In a 2018 SAYS interview she said her mother drew up her timetable so drumming and school could fit together.

How Did Amira Drummer Learn to Play the Drums?

Amira Drummer taught herself on YouTube. She started at eight, and in a 2015 SAYS piece she said she had never taken a formal music class and had learned from videos. The first song she played on a drum, she told SAYS in 2018, was Katy Perry’s Hot N Cold, using an online drum. Kosmo adds that she went on to master rolls, marching patterns and swivels.

Her first public gig came at nine, in Bukit Mertajam, alongside a band of adults, according to SAYS and Gempak’s Rojak Daily. By ten she was being invited to ceremonies, which is where she picked up the nickname Little Drummer, she told TheSongPedia. Local television stations began inviting her to perform live around 2013, according to The Vocket. At Pesta Pulau Pinang 2014 she was drummer for the band Instinct, per SAYS, and her cover there of Wings’ Opera Hidup was one of the performances that drew press attention.

Career: From Child Prodigy to YouTube Gold

The child prodigy years

When she was 13, Gempak’s Rojak Daily reported that she had uploaded more than 200 videos and collected more than 43 million views in five years, and described her as one of the most sought-after young female drummers in the country, with a performance alongside the Indonesian band Wali on her record. In 2015 she entered the Hit Like A Girl Contest, an international contest for female drummers. Malay Wikipedia calls her the only Malaysian among ten fan-voted finalists, while Kosmo says she reached the top five in the under-18 category.

One million subscribers

SAYS reported in 2018, when she was 15, that she had passed one million subscribers, and she said she celebrated with her fans. YouTube’s Gold Play Button followed, according to Kosmo. By December 2019 the Malaysian tech site Silver Mouse listed her among the country’s Gold Play Button channels at about 1.8 million subscribers and named her, with Namewee and Alyssa Dezek, as one of the biggest music creators from Malaysia on YouTube. Kosmo also reported that she was named Best YouTuber in Asia in 2019, though Belloria could not find the awarding body’s own record of that.

Her most-watched video is a drum cover of Koi Mil Gaya, from the 1998 Hindi film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. SAYS put it at 37 million views in 2022, and other Malaysian outlets have cited figures above 40 million.

Kebaya, classics and a wider audience

Malay Wikipedia dates her move into singing old songs by P. Ramlee and Saloma, such as Malamku Bermimpi, to 2021. Kosmo’s March 2023 profile describes the formula: drums, vocals and a kebaya, a dress she says she has worn for performances since she was eight and owns more than 200 of. The same article credits a drums-and-vocals video of the zapin Usik Mengusik with her biggest subscriber growth, taking her to 2.8 million. She also told Kosmo she was building businesses beyond music, including perfume and a planned biscuit snack line.

Acting and the first original songs

In 2023 she added acting. Diva Seroja, a TV3 drama that began airing in the Lestary slot on 9 June 2023, cast her as Leyla, one of five students at the centre of the story, alongside Puteri Balqis Azizi, Harissa Adlynn, Kashika Selvam and Amanda Tan. Harian Metro spoke to her about preparing for the role that July.

The same year she began releasing original singles. Apple Music lists Ya Habibi Ali Baba (27 June 2023), Seloka Di Malam Raya and Astaghfirullah Robbal Baroya for 2023, followed by Ragam Melayu and Hari Raya Ya Ya Ya (30 March 2024) in 2024, all under her own company.

Major Work and Notable Projects

If you want the shortest route through her career, these are the turning points:

  • Koi Mil Gaya drum cover: her most-watched video, reported at 37 million views in 2022.
  • Malamku Bermimpi: the P. Ramlee and Saloma classic she played and sang, which Kosmo names among the songs that raised her profile.
  • Usik Mengusik: the zapin video she links to her biggest growth.
  • Diva Seroja (2023): her acting debut on TV3, as Leyla.
  • La Fuerza del Juego Olé Olé Olé (December 2025): a football-themed single she billed as a World Cup 2026 anthem.
  • Yo No Eh Eh Eh (June 2026): her latest dated single and official music video.

Current Projects and Latest Updates

Why is Amira Syahira singing in Spanish now?

Amira Syahira has not given a single public explanation that Belloria could find, but the pattern is clear from her releases. From late 2025 her new singles moved to Latin pop, written by her, arranged by Naso Team Network and produced under her own label, Nur Amira Syahira Productions. Many are directed by Acik Zirul, the creative director of Smokey Rocket Studios, an independent studio founded by Nazirul Syahiran and Nasrul Syahmi that says it works with her company across music, film and digital media.

She says on TikTok that several of the songs were made with overseas supporters. Baila Con La Ola involved fans from Canada, Portugal and Greece, and Left Right, Go!, a motorsport song in Spanish and English, involved supporters from Canada and Portugal. She also thanked the Zumba and dancer community on Facebook for dancing to her songs.

Is La Fuerza del Juego an official World Cup 2026 song?

No. Her single La Fuerza del Juego Olé Olé Olé, released on 12 December 2025, is labelled a World Cup 2026 anthem on her own YouTube upload, but it is an independent release. The tournament’s official song was Dai Dai, performed by Shakira with Burna Boy, which Reuters reported was released on 14 May 2026.

Yo No Eh Eh Eh (June 2026)

Her most recent dated single, Yo No Eh Eh Eh, came out on 12 June 2026 on Apple Music and Spotify, with an official music video directed by Acik Zirul and edited by Nasrul Syahmi. In a TikTok caption she describes it as a simple story about choosing to be honest with your own heart, even if not everyone likes the answer.

What else is new

Her TikTok also announces a single called Sigue La Ola and a song titled Subtitle Face, released with Nasrul Syahmi and Nazirul Syahiran on Smokey Rocket Studios’ channel. Belloria could not confirm release dates for either, so they are not placed on the timeline above. She is also advertising one-on-one drum cover lessons on TikTok, with limited slots.

What comes next

For years Amira Drummer’s career was built on playing other people’s songs better than anyone expected a self-taught teenager to. The shift now is ownership. The songs, the lyrics, the label and the fan collaborations are hers, and the drum kit that started everything is now one instrument in a bigger catalogue. Whether Spanish pop becomes the next chapter or a detour will show in how her 2027 releases are received.

Is Nur Amira Syahira Married or Dating?

Amira Syahira has not publicly confirmed a relationship, and Belloria found no reliable report of a marriage. Dating-tracker sites that call her single are repeating guesses, not statements from her.

Family, travel and online abuse

Family is central to her travel plans. In February 2022 Bernama reported that she had bought a 23-seater, 19-year-old Hino bus at auction in January 2021 and spent about RM10,000 to RM15,000 over a year converting it into a motorhome with a bedroom, kitchen and generator, paid for from her YouTube savings, so she could travel for content and spend time with her family.

She has also spoken about the downside of an online career. In a June 2023 mStar interview she said she receives abusive and lewd comments and strange direct messages, blocks the accounts, and relies on her admin team to filter them, adding that it does not affect her work.
