Tiger Shroff has spent twelve years asking audiences to believe in a man who can run up a wall, land a kick and still hit his dance step. For a few years that was the most dependable formula in Hindi action. Baaghi 2 (2018) was one of the biggest Hindi hits of its year, and War (2019), opposite Hrithik Roshan, became the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2019. Then the formula stopped working. Heropanti 2, Ganapath, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Baaghi 4 all failed to find the audience their scale needed.

The interesting part is what he did with the time that followed. Shroff is the son of Jackie Shroff and has trained in martial arts since childhood, so the physical side of the job has never been in doubt. The open question has been what the stunts are attached to. His answer so far has been to build around the box office instead of waiting on it: Matrix Fight Night, the MMA Matrix gyms, a dance academy and, on 12 October 2026, a wellness centre in Mumbai, while Lag Ja Gale, his next film, waits for its 14 May 2027 release.

This week his name is also in the news for a frightening reason. On the evening of Sunday, 18 October 2026, men on a motorcycle fired at his car near his home in Juhu, Mumbai. He did not suffer a gunshot wound, and three suspects were detained in Rajasthan the next day. What is confirmed and what is still only claimed is set out in the latest updates section. This profile covers the rest of the story: his family, every film, his business ventures and what comes next.

Who Is Tiger Shroff?

Tiger Shroff, born Jai Hemant Shroff, is an Indian actor, martial artist, dancer and singer who works in Hindi films. He is the son of actor Jackie Shroff and producer Ayesha Shroff. He debuted in Heropanti (2014), won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year (Male), and became a franchise lead with the Baaghi films. In 2019 he co-founded the mixed martial arts promotion Matrix Fight Night with his mother and sister. His highest-grossing film is War (2019). His next release is Lag Ja Gale, scheduled for 14 May 2027.

How Old Is Tiger Shroff?

Tiger Shroff is 36 years old as of 20 October 2026. He was born on 2 March 1990 in Mumbai and turns 37 on 2 March 2027.

Who Are Tiger Shroff’s Parents? Early Life and Family

Tiger Shroff’s parents are actor Jackie Shroff and producer Ayesha Shroff (née Dutt), a former model and actress who moved into producing. Jackie Shroff, born in 1957, became a leading man in the 1980s with Hero (1983), and he and Ayesha married on 5 June 1987. Tiger was born in Mumbai on 2 March 1990, the elder of their two children.

His sister, Krishna Shroff, born on 21 January 1993, is a fitness entrepreneur who runs the MMA Matrix gyms with him. His maternal grandfather was Air Vice Marshal Ranjan Dutt, a Vir Chakra awardee, according to Outlook. Shroff studied at the American School of Bombay.

Martial arts came early. Bollywood Hungama reports that he took to mixed martial arts at the age of five, and in 2014 he was awarded an honorary fifth-degree black belt in taekwondo. Dance was the other discipline. Gulf News has described him as a die-hard Michael Jackson fan, and Bollywood Hungama notes that his dance numbers, from Whistle Baja in Heropanti to Jai Jai Shivshankar and Mast Malang Jhoom, have repeatedly gone viral alongside the stunts.

How Tall Is Tiger Shroff?

Tiger Shroff is about 5 feet 9 inches (roughly 175 cm) tall, according to the IMDb profile. Public listings vary by an inch or two and no official measurement has been published, so treat the figure as approximate.

What Was Tiger Shroff’s First Film?

Tiger Shroff’s first film was Heropanti, released on 23 May 2014. Directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the action romance was a Hindi remake of the 2008 Telugu film Parugu and also introduced Kriti Sanon. Shroff was signed in 2012, and by one account Salman Khan was the person who asked Nadiadwala to launch him.

Critics were lukewarm about the acting and generous about the athletics. India Today’s review read the film as a showcase for his physical ability rather than his performance. It still worked commercially, earning roughly ₹73 to ₹78 crore worldwide depending on the tracker, and it won him the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year (Male), a Stardust Award and a Filmfare nomination for Best Male Debut.

Career: Baaghi, War and the Hard Years

Baaghi turns a debutant into a franchise lead (2016 to 2018)

His second film, Baaghi (29 April 2016), reunited him with Sabbir Khan and Nadiadwala and paired him with Shraddha Kapoor. Set in a martial arts school, it was built around his fighting skills and earned roughly ₹127 crore worldwide. It was a clear success and set the template for his screen image: a disciplined fighter pushed to the edge.

The two films that followed, the superhero film A Flying Jatt (2016) and the dance film Munna Michael (2017), were commercial disappointments. That made Baaghi 2 (30 March 2018), directed by Ahmed Khan, matter more than a sequel normally would. It grossed well over ₹250 crore worldwide by most trade counts and ranked among the top-grossing Hindi films of its year.

War and the peak (2019 to 2020)

After Student of the Year 2 (2019), Dharma Productions’ standalone sequel, which earned in the region of ₹94 to ₹98 crore worldwide, came the film that defines his peak. In War, released on 2 October 2019, he played Captain Khalid Rahmani opposite Hrithik Roshan in Siddharth Anand’s action thriller for Yash Raj Films. Shroff had said in 2018 that working with Roshan was a lifelong dream.

War opened to a record ₹53.35 crore in India and finished as the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2019, with worldwide figures reported between about ₹457 crore and ₹476 crore depending on the source. It remains his biggest release. Baaghi 3 (6 March 2020) reunited him with Shraddha Kapoor and collected about ₹136 to ₹137 crore worldwide, though its run was cut short by the Covid-19 lockdown. He had no releases in 2021.

The hard run (2022 to 2025)

Heropanti 2 (29 April 2022), directed by Ahmed Khan with Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and partly shot in Dubai and Al Ain, did not repeat the original’s success. Ganapath (20 October 2023), Vikas Bahl’s dystopian action film in which he played a dual role opposite Kriti Sanon, with Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo, drew mixed to negative reviews and failed commercially. India Today’s review said he was strong in the action but did not evoke an emotional response. Trackers put its worldwide earnings at around ₹18 crore.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (11 April 2024), Ali Abbas Zafar’s large-scale action film with Akshay Kumar and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the antagonist, was widely described as a box-office bomb. Reported worldwide figures ranged from about ₹80 crore to ₹110 crore across trackers, far short of what a film of that scale needed. In between he appeared in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again (2024) in a cameo as ACP Satya Bali.

Baaghi 4 (5 September 2025), directed by A. Harsha with Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist, was panned by critics and is listed as a box-office bomb in reference sources, with worldwide figures of about ₹67 crore to ₹77 crore depending on the tracker. It began streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 31 October 2025. Across four films the pattern is consistent: big budgets, high-concept action and diminishing returns.

Current Projects and Latest Updates

What Is Tiger Shroff’s Next Movie?

Tiger Shroff’s next film is Lag Ja Gale, scheduled for release on 14 May 2027. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and directed by Raj Mehta, whose credits include JugJugg Jeeyo, Selfiee and Good Newwz, it stars Shroff with Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya and is billed as an intense action entertainer. It is his first collaboration with both co-stars. The release date was announced by trade analyst Taran Adarsh in June 2026, and reports say a large dance-off sequence between Shroff and Lakshya, choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, was shot at Mumbai’s Mukesh Mills in December 2025.

The Juhu firing: what is confirmed and what is not

On the evening of Sunday, 18 October 2026, at about 7 pm, gunmen opened fire on Shroff’s car near Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu as he was returning home from playing football, according to The National. Police said three men approached on a motorcycle and two of them fired before fleeing.

  • Injuries: Shroff did not suffer a gunshot wound, though some reports mention minor injuries. His driver was shot in the hand, and another person nearby was also hurt. Both received hospital treatment.
  • The case: Mumbai Police registered a case under provisions covering attempt to murder and the Arms Act, formed 15 teams and examined CCTV footage. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered a thorough investigation, and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor’s residence.
  • The arrests: On Monday, 19 October, Kota police took three suspects, one of them a juvenile, off the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express at Kota railway station. Mumbai Police took custody and a court granted a 48-hour transit remand. A Mumbai team left Kota with them on Tuesday, 20 October. Business Standard reported that the three had planned to go to Delhi by bus and then flee to Nepal.
  • More arrests: On Tuesday, 20 October, Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested four more people, including two women, in Delhi and Haryana for allegedly supplying the weapon, according to India TV and Hindustan Times. They were handed to Mumbai Police, which formally arrested them and obtained three days of transit remand. Police said two of the three men held in Kota fired five to six rounds at the car, according to India TV.
  • The claims: Two people identifying themselves online claimed responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and a message circulating after the attack reportedly warned film industry figures against working with Salman Khan. Police had not publicly confirmed either claim at the time of writing, and no motive has been established. IANS reported on 21 October that early questioning of the accused suggested Shroff was not the primary target and that another Bollywood figure was in mind, which police have not confirmed. Separately, a Punjab man was detained for a false call to Mumbai’s control room claiming a contract on Shroff’s life, according to PTI.
  • The reaction: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees condemned the attack, and colleagues from the industry expressed alarm.

The people in custody are suspects, not convicted, and the investigation is continuing. This section will be updated as Mumbai Police release more information.

Reported next projects

Pinkvilla reported in July 2026 that director Anubhav Sinha is preparing an action film with Shroff and Vidyut Jammwal, to be produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, with shooting planned for later this year. In January 2026 the same pairing had been linked to a Milap Zaveri film, so the project’s direction has changed in reporting. No official announcement from the makers was found, so treat it as reported rather than confirmed. Separately, Hollywood Reporter India has described his Indian adaptation of Rambo as announced years ago but not yet started, and quoted Shroff saying it would be unfamiliar terrain for him.

Matrix Wellness and the business beyond films

On 12 October 2026 Shroff and his sister Krishna launched Matrix Wellness in Mumbai, a recovery and wellness centre that offers cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, red light therapy, cold plunge, sauna, sports massage and Lagree training, according to Bollywood Hungama. The company says the Matrix ecosystem now covers a combined 10,000 sq ft across the centre and MMA Matrix Gym Mumbai. Shroff said fitness is not just about training, but also about how you recover.

It is the latest step in a business that began with the first MMA Matrix gym in Mumbai in December 2018 and Matrix Fight Night, the family’s MMA promotion, whose first event was held at Mumbai’s NSCI Dome on 12 March 2019. Matrix Dance Academy followed in April 2025. Bollywood Hungama has also reported on Prowl, his grooming and lifestyle brand, unveiling a men’s grooming range.

What comes next

Shroff’s career has always been a bet that physical conviction can carry a film. The last few years tested that bet. The next test is different: whether a film built around a new co-star pairing and a director known for big-screen entertainers can give his action a reason to matter again. For now, the more urgent story is the police investigation in Mumbai.
