Playboy’s reimagined Playmate contest ended with a number: 1.7 million votes, cast by more than 200,000 fans across 19 weeks. The winner was Lauren Summer, a Los Angeles-based model and creator who beat more than 17,000 other entrants, and Playboy has been calling her the People’s Playmate ever since.
Her route to that title is unusual. She says it began in 2017, when Playboy shared a lingerie photo of her on its Instagram account and, in her words, she “blew up” overnight. Two years later she was in the headlines for a different reason, a stunt at the 2019 World Series that got her banned from Major League Baseball. In 2026 she appeared in Playboy’s Spring issue as Miss February.
This profile covers that career using independent reporting where it exists and says plainly where a fact comes only from Playboy or from the subject herself. A note on category: Belloria found no adult-film credits for Lauren Summer. She is covered here as a Playboy Playmate and social media creator, not as an adult-film performer.

Source note: Belloria could not open Playboy.com or Instagram directly. Facts from Playboy’s own announcements and posts, or from Lauren Summer’s own statements, are labelled as such and are relayed through independent outlets (Complex, CBS News, Fox 5 DC, Chicago Sun-Times, International Business Times) or through Playboy’s public social posts. Details that appear only on celebrity-bio aggregator sites, which conflict with each other, are flagged or left out.
Who Is Lauren Summer?
Lauren Summer is an American model and social media creator who rose to attention through Instagram and won Playboy’s first digital-only Great Playmate Search in December 2025. Playboy named her Miss February 2026, with a pinup-inspired pictorial photographed by Alana O’Herlihy in its Spring 2026 issue. Complex reported that she has more than two million followers across social platforms.
Early Life and Background
Complex describes Lauren Summer as an Orlando native who now lives in Los Angeles. Celebrity-bio aggregator sites give her birthplace as Apopka, a city in the Orlando area, and several list her full name as Lauren Summer Barrett. Those sites disagree on her birth year (1994 versus 1996), repeat each other’s wording and give no primary sources, so Belloria treats the details as unconfirmed. No independent reporting on her family or schooling turned up.
Career
Instagram and the 2017 Playboy post
Summer’s own account, as quoted by Complex, is that her breakthrough came in 2017 when Playboy posted a photo of her in lingerie on its Instagram account. “Overnight I blew up,” she said, adding that she used it as a stepping stone. Some aggregator sites instead say she was “featured in Playboy” in April 2017 in a pictorial. The two accounts conflict and Belloria could not check Playboy’s archive, so the 2017 episode is described only as she describes it.
The 2019 World Series ban
On 27 October 2019, during Game 5 of the World Series at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., Summer, fellow model Julia Rose and a third woman, Kayla Lauren, briefly exposed themselves on camera behind home plate in the seventh inning. The moment aired on the Fox broadcast. Major League Baseball sent letters banning the women from its stadiums and facilities indefinitely. In the letter, shared by Summer and Rose on social media and reported by CBS Baltimore, MLB said they had violated the fan code of conduct by exposing themselves to promote a business.
The women said the stunt was meant to raise breast cancer awareness and asked followers to donate. International Business Times described Rose as the founder of the digital magazine Shagmag and Summer as a brand executive. Summer’s reaction on Twitter, reported by CBS, was one word: “Whoops.”
The Great Playmate Search (2025)
Playboy relaunched its print magazine in 2025 and revived the Playmate contest as a digital competition. The Great Playmate Search combined fan voting with a panel of former Playmates, including Shanna Moakler, Brande Roderick, Daphnée Duplaix and Summer Altice. According to Playboy’s figures, as reported by Complex, it drew more than 17,000 entrants and 1.7 million votes from over 200,000 fans.
Complex reported that the judges highlighted her use of her platform beyond modelling. She has spoken openly about living with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and has shared content aimed at normalising conversations about sexual health and dating expectations. Model Ines Trocchia won the separate Inside Cover prize. Reports of the result first appeared in mid-December 2025, and Complex’s article is dated 29 December 2025.
Miss February 2026
Playboy named Summer Miss February 2026 and billed her as the People’s Playmate. Her pinup-inspired pictorial, shot by Alana O’Herlihy, appeared in the Spring 2026 issue, which Playboy said features Karol G on its cover. The issue was due on newsstands in March 2026. Playboy’s later announcement of a new global model search, in April 2026, cited her casting as the previous contest’s result.

Current Projects and Latest Updates
Summer’s most recent confirmed milestone is her Miss February 2026 pictorial in Playboy’s Spring 2026 issue. In April 2026, Playboy and Honey Birdette announced a new global model search with a $100,000 prize, and Playboy’s press release described the previous Great Playmate Search as having cast “Instagram sensation Lauren Summer.” Belloria found no newly announced projects for her in the sources reviewed.

Follower figures conflict and none is current. Complex reported in December 2025 that she has more than two million followers across social platforms. Aggregator sites list Instagram counts ranging from about 2.1 million to 2.6 million at different dates. Several aggregator sites also list an OnlyFans account under her handle, and some list a Twitch channel. Belloria found no independent reporting on either, did not check them and does not link to any paid platform. Social media figures are approximate and may change.
Personal Life
Lauren Summer has kept most of her private life out of public reporting, and Belloria does not repeat relationship rumours from aggregator sites. What she has chosen to discuss publicly, according to Complex, is living with PMDD, which she has presented as part of her work on health and dating conversations.
